Emma Roberts To Produce YA Vampire Series ‘First Kill’ At Netflix
Posted by admin on October 16th, 2020

Netflix has handed a series order to First Kill, a YA vampire series based on the short story by New York Times bestselling author Victoria “V. E.” Schwab, with American Horror Story and Scream Queens star Emma Roberts set to produce via her Belletrist Productions. The eight-episode, one-hour series was created, written and executive produced by Schwab. Felicia D. Henderson (The Punisher, Empire) also writes and serves as showrunner.

Schwab’s short story was published in Imprint’s Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite by Natalie C. Parker and Zoraida Córdova, a collection of short stories about vampires that was released in September.

It was a highly competitive situation, we hear, with Belletrist Productions winning the rights over 18 other entities.
In First Kill, when it’s time for teenage vampire Juliette to make her first kill so she can take her place among a powerful vampire family, she sets her sights on a new girl in town named Calliope. But much to Juliette’s surprise, Calliope is a vampire hunter, from a family of celebrated slayers. Both find that the other won’t be so easy to kill and, unfortunately, way too easy to fall for.

2020 Netflix Pilots & Series Orders

Roberts and Belletrist co-founder Karah Preiss serve as executive producers.

Under her first-look deal with Hulu, Roberts, via Belletrist, is adapting Carola Lovering’s Tell Me Lies as a television series. Roberts also is attached to star with UK comedian Jack Whitehall in comedy feature Robots, directed by Anthony Hines. She recently wrapped a starring role in Tiffany Paulsen’s upcoming film Holidate, with John Whitesell directing, for Netflix. Roberts is repped by CAA, Sweeney Entertainment and Felker Toczek

Henderson is a consulting producer on Fox series neXt and recently served as consulting producer on Empire. She co-created and executive produced the BET series, The Quad, and spent two years as a co-executive producer on Netflix’s The Punisher. She also developed and executive produced Showtime’s long-running drama series Soul Food.

Henderson’s writing career began in half-hour comedy with stints on Everybody Hates Chris, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and Moesha.

Schwab is repped by CAA and Root Literary.

Emma Roberts Sets First-Look TV Deal at Hulu, to Develop Drama Series ‘Tell Me Lies
Posted by admin on September 1st, 2020

Emma Roberts and her Belletrist TV banner have signed a first-look TV deal with Hulu.

The deal will focus on literary adaptations, as Belletrist was originally founded by Roberts and Karah Preiss as a book club. Preiss will serve as an executive producer on all projects developed under the deal, while Belletrist’s director of development, Matt Matruski, will serve as producer as part of his employment with the company.

The first project to be developed will be “Tell Me Lies,” based on the book by Carola Lovering. In the book, Lucy Albright arrives on the campus of her small college, away from her mother whom she’s never forgiven for an act of betrayal in her early teen years. She embraces college life and all it has to offer. But everything changes when she meets Stephen DeMarco, who has a mysterious past of his own. Their addicting entanglement will have consequences they never could have imagined.

Meaghan Oppenheimer is attached to write the pilot. Rebelle Media and Refinery29 will produce. Oppenheimer’s past credits include “Queen America,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” and the feature “We Are Your Friends.”

Roberts is best known for her onscreen work. She has appeared on TV shows such as “American Horror Story,” “Scream Queens,” and “Unfabulous.” On the film side, she has starred in projects such as “The Hunt,” “We’re the Millers,” “Billionaire Boys Club,” and “Scream 4.” She was also an executive producer on the feature “In a Relationship,” in which she also starred.

She is repped by CAA, Sweeney Entertainment, and Felker Toczek.

Emma Roberts Is Pregnant
Posted by admin on June 27th, 2020

On Thursday, Us Weekly exclusively revealed on their Hot Hollywood podcast that the actress is pregnant. Rumors she and Hedlund were dating first began circulating in March 2019 after the pair were spotted holding hands.

While neither Roberts nor Hedlund has confirmed the pregnancy, the news led fans to flood the actress’s mom Kelly Cunningham’s Instagram with congratulatory comments. According to Us Weekly, one nosy commenter cut straight to the point, asking, “Kelly is emma pregnant?????” To which Cunningham unambiguously responded, “Yes!!” with a red heart emoji. She also enthusiastically responded, “Thank you so much! Very excited,” to another Instagram user who said she’d make an amazing grandmother.

As of today, however, Cunningham’s Instagram account has been mysteriously removed from the platform.

It seems that much like Yolanda Hadid before her, celebrity grandmas-to-be just can’t help but spill the beans.

Roberts’s representatives did not respond to a request for comment.
